I’m probably dooming this blog post to no readers as I’m not sure anyone else is checking for these. Regardless, these Vans Authentics Hamptons caught my eye and since they can be had for cheap, why not?
Paul Van Doren and Jim Van Doren are two of the main originators of the Vans line, so any pair marked as “Van Doren” (such as these) are meant as a send-up to them. Typically this involves a reissued print.
Last year floral prints were all the rage so it was perfect timing to release these. Now that the fad has died down, it’s time for me to flex these Authentics! I’m not sure what the floral print has to do with the Hamptons, but then again these are more about the look and the print than they are about any sort of actual theme.
How Are The Materials?
What can I say? It’s a canvas shoe. The canvas is not super thick like the Sk8 His I recently reviewed but is instead a little on the thin side. The construction seems solid though, can’t find anything wrong with the materials here.
How Do They Fit?
These Vans Authentics Hamptons fit true to size and are somewhat comfortable. Authentics for me are a shoe I had to wear for a while before I stopped getting automatic heel rub on every new pair. It’s not a big deal now, but new Authentics wearers with feet like mine might consider protecting the back of their ankles until these break in. Otherwise, these are very comfy once broken in. If you’re used to Authentics then these should be pretty standard on comfort.
